askew road church

A multicultural church at the heart of a multicultural community

Shepherds Bush, London, W12 9RN, United Kingdom

What We Believe

God as Trinity.  God the Father who made heaven and earth, Jesus Christ the Son of God and who died for our salvation, The Holy Spirit who empowers us to experience and pray to God.

Who We Are

We are Methodist and United Reformed. We hold the same core beliefs as all other mainstream denominations, including the Church of England, the Baptist Church, and the Catholic Church.

How We Live

We have a relationship with God through faith in Jesus Christ and salvation. We love spending time with God in prayer, in fellowship and studying the Bible. Our Faith is a relationship, not just an understanding.

Our Community

God has been and will always be loving towards us. This has a big impact on our lives as we are able to start loving God. And when we start loving God, we find ourselves drawn into loving other people around us.

Welcome to our church

From the Minister's Office

Askew Methodist Church welcomes everyone into our Fellowship.  We aim, through our worship, Bible study, and prayer to grow closer to God and to bring others into a true relationship with Him.

We seek to offer God's love made known in Jesus Christ.  We are determined to show this love in action in our daily lives and fellowship, by reaching out into the community and recognising and responding to the needs of the wider world.

ASKEW Road Church

Methodist / United Reformed

Askew Road Church (Methodist / United Reformed) has been at the corner of Askew Road and Bassein Park Road since the 1860s. It was damaged by bombing in the Second World War and rebuilt.
The Church was rebuilt and was put to use in stages between 1954 and 1968.
In 1972, Askew Road Methodist Church amalgamated with Shepherds Bush United Reformed Church to form the present congreagation.
Between 2009-2010, major refurbishment was carried out at a cost of over a million pounds.
The church reopened in January 2011 fully renovated with access improvements.

The calling of The Methodist Church is to respond to the gospel of God's love in Christ and to live out its discipleship in worship and mission.  It does this through:
Worship: The Church exists to increase awareness of God's presence and to celebrate God's love
Learning and Caring: The Church exists to help people to grow and learn as Christians, through mutual support and care
Service: The Church exists to be a good neighbour to people in need and to challenge injustice
Evangelism: The Church exists to make more followers of Jesus Christ

The United Reformed Church are a family of Christians, worshipping in the name of Jesus in about 1500 local churches around the UK.
'Reformed' means that we delight in the Bible, we do not fear change, and we try to run our churches in ways that take everyone's insight and contribution seriously.
'United' is an important part of our story. We started when English Presbyterians merged with English and Welsh Congregationalists in 1972. Churches of Christ joined in 1981 and Scottish Congregationalists in 2000. We still work as closely as we can with Christians of all traditions and styles.
And we are one 'Church'.
